Instagram

Instagram, Possibly one of my favourite apps. Also one of the most used social media platforms around today. Most popular with the younger generation, as we are technically able to build a profile around ourselves and only post the photos we allow. Thus many believe this creates a form of online identity for everyone we follow and outsiders to see. The app allows us to share photos, as many or as little as we want. It's an amazing form of online interaction with one another. I suppose the difference with Facebook and Twitter is how Instagram is more visuals, which for many, such as myself I find so much more interesting. Rather than reading why someone broke up with their boyfriend on Facebook.

Nevertheless this persona we create on Instagram may not be around for much longer. Due to the uproar of the new Instagram update. For those who have not heard about it yet. Instead of seeing the most recent posts of people you follow in a chronological order. Instagram now  technically decides which posts they think you'll most like to see and subject to this only display those photos. So if it were my feed it would be full of horses and those 'candid' poses people seem to do in foreign countries.

However, there has been a huge controversy over this update.  On my timeline the other morning, there were so many accounts, famous people or not, asking their followers to turn on their notification buttons so their updates aren't lost to the new regime. There has been a huge confusion to whether the update has even been applied or not. It hasn't yet. But for those who are really concerned, they have already made their followers aware. But, unless you really want to see all theses photos. Don't do it. Even if the idea seems appealing at first. Don't.

Say, you're following Kylie Jenner, She posts photos daily. So each time she does, you'll receive a notification on your phone, which after a while may get pretty annoying? When you see the instagram logo appear you may think someone has tagged you in a photo, but no. It will most likely be a photo of a new Range Rover or some Christian Louboutins.

The update appearance is actually still unknown. But for those Blogger accounts, or those with large followings have been posting photos trying to entice followers to receive notifications from them. On twitter there have been comments made against those doing so. Moaning about how annoying it is, or that it's for attention. Even though this may be true, essentially they want to keep others up to date.

On the bright side for those who are actually interested in this update, from those I've spoken to the numbers are small. However if for example Zayn posts a photo from a gig or the recording studio you'll unlikely miss it. Based on the algorithm patterns and your user interactions with others you'll still see 60% of your feed. Technically all the posts will still be there. But those people that you follow just because you feel you have to, and have no interactions with their photos, they will be near the bottom of the photo listing on your timeline. So don't worry when your best friend posts a selfie from a night out, you won't miss it.

Fear not, although many people are telling you to put their notifications on, Instagram did declare this on twitter the other day, So if you really have turned your notifications on, rest assured. You can turn them off.

Readers,

Gossiping. A term and noun usually defined as 'casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details which are not confirmed as true'.

Something that appears in more or less everybody's lives. There are different ideals of gossiping, this is also something normally associated with 'girls'. A stereotype we've been given because apparently the term gossip can relate to 'bitching' and talking about one another.

I decided to do a blog/rant on this, not because I've been religiously watching Gossipgirl, but because it has become a term that is only related to women, when both genders particpate. something that's relevant because everyone talks about everyone. Also something worth discussing because within social groups it appears to have become a huge issue.

Overall,  people seem to talk about one another in generally quite a nice manner. However this term 'Gossip' now refers to us spreading rumours about one another and the entire ideal of this has become so tedious.

The entire notion of Gossip is almost a laughing matter because it is essentially something we all do, something I should have made more of a few years resolution to become less focused on.

Just Something to Keep in mind

xoxo Gossip Girl

London- Somerset House

Since the ending of London Fashion week, things have begun to calm down, with the introduction to the spring and summer season many of us are now well aware and are preparing for the upcoming season. Something new and exciting to look at was the  the 'Big Bang Data' Exhibition. A different turn from fashion, however the exhibition is based upon the ideals of data becoming an explosion that has radically transformed our lives.

Some aspects of the exhibition were very ascetically pleasing, The exhibition tackles subject matters that many of us many not even be aware of today. there is not a specific focus as such on certain art projects, but the exhibition touches upon art projects with the use of selfies, images projected from hacked computers, network systems and many more.

Something that really caught my eye that I thought was worth sharing was a large iPad displaying the 33 boroughs of London, and ranking the happiest from 1 to 33. There wasn't a stereotypical pattern as some may expect, However areas such as camden were seen as the happiest.

The examination of the 'Selfie' a mainstream ideology which has been around for years, has been examined in a different light. Apparently your selfie can reflect a lot about your city, which seems a strange concept.
Typically London selfies gives off vibes for the least happy faces. The exhibition ends of the 16th March, so it is definitely worth taking a look !
